The first H1b was 2017-2020 (in person visa appointment in Delhi), the second one was 2019-2022 (dropbox in Chennai) and this was the third H1b (dropbox in Delhi). Lots of follow up mails but generic response from us travel docs and embassy. All 3 latest passport collected (all old passport verified), DS160 confirmation letter of each applicant, Only Primary applicant latest & previous I797 (did not ask for dependents or until last visa stamped of primary applicant I797). It was an exhaustive list. Pass me the principal applicants I797 documents and her passport/visa copy gave both new and old I797(gave color copies for all just make sure all the information is clear in the copy). I d recommend get them clicked there in the VAC centre itself (they have a photo studio) as its only Rs. Photos ke liye they asked me to retake which costed me INR 500. Security check found headphone in my upper packet, I went outside and gave it to photo studio person, Again went inside and security allowed me to stay in front of window, Drop box Person asked me for appointment confirmation, My photo was with spectacle, she asked me to take new photo, I went outside at photo studio, took the photo again then went inside, again security check, Same window, I submitted all above documents again, She verified all documents, checked my previous VISA photo with current photoand similar to my dependents. 5 row bench. After entry there is again Appointment, DS160 and passport checks. Previous appointment VAC Hyderabad 23 Jan. I wish all the best to all of you who are waiting for their case to be cleared. Experience 1: H1B with Dropbox, 221g, In Person Interview at New Delhi 2. Then I asked to go to lobby and checked my passport. There was an issue with my wifes photo, so I had to provide an another one. You can bring your coats/jackets. I recently had my dropbox visa interview for H1B, after 8 days the visa status on ceac portal - https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx has 'refused' status. H-1B Holders in the U.S. 1 PM we were asked to pass the first barricade and wait for 10 mins and then asked to enter the premises after checking your appt letter where a Q of individuals are asked to get in to frisk & check the files and docs. I have seen blue slip to submit documents and attend in person . His family members are currently in India. For any data change obviously applicant will be responsible not agent and we may end up with application cancelation. Your Visa is APPROVED!!! There was a queue to get into the building.Took 15-20 minutes to reach the gates.Once done with the security(no laptops were allowed), go to VFS office.Again there was a queue to get inside.Once near the gate they were asking for Bluetooth device. Had everything in order but I took my photo in Fedex and didnt notice a shadow behind my ears. Wife has an active tourist visa.. We both qualify for IW but before going to the dropbox we werent sure they would accept my daughters docs.. Passport kept by VO and told me to expect the update in a couple of days. The approval came swiftly on Feb 14th. Remember sending additional documents is not going to harm you. ! Consular: Do you know Hindi? Me: Yes! Consular: You can read Hindi as well right? Then she accepted it and said my case has been accepted and I should expect an update in 4-5 business days. I carried all copies mentioned in appointment confirmation (copies of visa page and biographic pages of parents for kid) but they did not ask. Case Last Update date is Oct 30th. I went to a small shop right in front of this dropbox where they took another photo in 20 mins and I was back in line. Reached by 10 (we need to reach only on time, no use of reaching early. They took us inside consulate at sharp 10am. I'm a Canadian Permanent resident and this is my first time h1b stamping. Working in HYD, Filled DS160 for CHENNAI consulate. At the end of the interview, I was issued another 221(g) white slip asking for additional documents like previous W2s, 3-month payslips, and court documents showing case closure. I am not sure what worked in my favor but i tried everything that people in this group have suggested. So only offer letter is good enough). As per the latest norms set by the US Department of State, the H1B Dropbox eligibility period is extended to 48 months instead of the usual 12 months until December 31st, 2022. , Anyways, they finally issued my visa on July 5th and reissued a visa for wife the same day. They asked for foll docs: current employer verification letter (though I had offer letter as well, they only asked me to provide verification letter), previous copy of i797. Overall it was pretty smooth, except the lady at the first counter who gives you a token wasnt aware that one can select location A while filling DS 160 but can end up taking appointment at any place.
